Portugal Pilgrimage:

  • Lisbon – the city of St. Anthony, situated on the Atlantic Ocean.  Visit the most important tourist attractions. Rossio – the main market square.  Chiado –traditional shopping area. Old City, the district of Belem with the famous Jeronimos Monastery, Torre de Belem, Monument to Discoveries.  Relax on the Atlantic Ocean, in a place from which Vasco da Gama departed for India in 1497.  Cabo da Roca a place which forms the most western point of mainland Europe.

Fatima:

  • Fatima – Visit the Shrine of Fatima and the museum (including the original crown of Our Lady).  Go to the village where the three children of Fatima where born and the church where they were baptized.  Visit the city of Porto for wine tasting and in the evening participate in the Rosary for Pilgrims in the Basilica Square.

Coimbra:

  • Coimbra – Visit the cathedral and monastery in the old city where Sister Lucia lived and died.  Depart to visit Braga. Visit the Basilica of Santiago de Compostella, along with a part of the famous St. Jacob’s Way, the Pilgrim Route.

Spain:

  • Salamanka – Tour Plaza Mayor, the XVII century square, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Spain; the University with the famous library; the Old and New Cathedral with the Plateresco style façade;and the Home of the shell (symbolizing the pilgrimage that the owner of the house made to Santiago de Compostella).

Avila:

  • Avila – Depart for Avila for a tour in the footsteps of St. Theresa.  In the afternoon, arrive in Toledo.

      

Toledo:

  • Toledo – Tour the medieval city situated upon the river Tag.  Visit Gothic Cathedral, situated on the highest part of the eleventh century city of Alkazar; San Tome Church (a home to the El Greco picture), and the El Transito Synagogue.  In Toledo’s history it has been both a Christian and Muslim city while also having Roman ruins.  The Jewish minority also had a great influence on the history of the city.  It is a highly recommended visit.

Madrid:

  • Madrid – Sightsee the Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, Gran Via, Palacio Real, Parque del Buen Retiro, and the most important, Las Ventas, Bullring Arena.
